Abstract
The incidence of cerebrovascular disease differ between men and women, in part because of differences in hormones, especially estrogen. There are many reports about the protective effects of exogenous estrogen on the cerebrovascular system. We report a 50-year-old woman with multiple recurring infarctions during menstruational periods, thus concluding that recurrent infarctions are related to endogenous estrogen. To the author¡¯s knowledge this is the first report of multiple recurring infarctions which have occurred during menstruational periods.
